Type of business: The Beth Chatto Gardens is a garden, plant nursery and tearoom in Elmstead Market in Colchester. The business also operate a mail order shop. Staff numbers vary depending on the season from around 30 to 50 employees.
Beth Chatto OBE and her late husband Andrew had a house built on his fruit farm in the village of Elmstead Market in 1959. Beth started slowly extending the garden and sold plants at the end of the drive in 1960. A plant nursery was open in the mid-1960 and became a limited company in 1988.

Staff at this payroll company were totally incompetent and after some very serious and concerning errors we cancelled our contract and moved to Harper Morris Payroll. We have been clients since 2008.

Type of business: Wright’s is a family business (in its 5th generation) with 145 years of milling know how, obsessed with quality and customer satisfaction. Wright’s flour has been renowned over generations for its superior baking characteristics. Wright’s produces a range of top quality bread and cake mixes supplied to most of the major retailers in the UK.
The company employs 90 employees.
Payroll experience: Prior to Harper Morris Payroll, Wright’s used another payroll company. The service there started off well but eventually became problematic with many errors and constant change of personnel. This became increasingly difficult because accuracy and having the same people to talk to when problems occur is crucial.
Your experience of Harper Morris: Harper Morris Payroll is a well-run Payroll Bureau. The staff are all helpful and quick to respond. They have never given me any cause for concern. They always meet deadlines and deal very efficiently with any problems I throw at them. Mandi and Anna in particular are super-efficient and pleasant to deal with. Our monthly payroll always seems to work well. I would recommend them highly.
